CARE AND FEEDING

A well-cared for wooden cutting board can last for many years. Follow these easy steps to keep your board beautiful, sanitary and crack free.

Do not put in the dishwasher and do not microwave.

      DAILY USE AND CLEANING:

     *  Wash with warm water and mild dish soap. Avoid long exposure to water.

     *  Use a soft sponge or brush and avoid harsh cleaners or bleach.

     *  Clean both sides, even if only one side was used.

       NEVER SOAK

     *   Do not submerge your board in water.

     *   Soaking can cause warping, splitting or possible glue failure.

     *   Towel dry right away after washing, and stand the board on edge to dry.

        OILING AND CONDITIONING

     *   Wood needs regular conditioning to prevent drying and cracking.           Use food-grade mineral oil, or our recommended Board Wax once per month.  Apply a generous coat of oil and/or or Board Wax on all surfaces, including the edges. Let soak for at least 4 hours and wipe off excess oil before use.

     *   To deodorize and for deep cleaning sprinkle coarse salt over the surface; then rub with half a lemon cut side down.  Let sit for 5~10 minutes and rinse.  Light surface roughness can be smoothed with fine grit sand paper (220-320 grit).

With care, your board will resist cracking, be naturally antibiotic, and a welcome addition to your family for years !
